Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
This paper presents the study regarding the impact of the treatment with Câmpeni red petroleum on an eighteenth-century icon made of wood, with the aim of active preservation and restoration. In accomplishing this endeavour, there were applied non-invasive techniques of analysis based on optical microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), micro-FTIR and colorimetry CIEL*a*b*. A series of chemical, physical-structural and mechanical characteristics of the wood were traced, in order to assess the degree of preservation enhancement as a result of the applied treatment.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
Composite lignocellulose-inorganic sorbents derived from plant residues of agriculture and food industry, modified with ferrocyanides of d-metals and hydrated antimony pentoxide were prepared. Caesium and strontium ions removal from water was tested by radiotracer method. Sorption of heavy metal ions, methylene blue, gelatin, vitamin B12 was also studied.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
The effect of phase and chemical composition of natural quartz sand, binder and burnable additives was studied. The conditions of application of the membrane and biocide layers on the formation of porous ceramic and microfiltration membranes were investigated. It is shown that a crystalline oxide of Si(IV) is determinant for obtaining the ceramic materials. The presence of carbonates (calcite, dolomite, aragonite, etc.) and crystalline aluminosilicates (microcline, albite, phlogopit, etc.) leads to a decrease in mechanical strength of ceramics. The biocide coating designed to protect the ceramic membrane surfaces from biofouling was applied and its anti-bacterial activity was shown.

Graphical Abstract:
Ion-exchange properties of natural zeolites of Georgia with a relatively low Si/Al ratio have been studied: analcimes are characterized  by selectivity series: Na+>K+>Ag+>NH4+>Ca+2>Sr+2>Li+; for phillipsites selectivity sequences are different for calcium- and potassium forms; selectivity sequence for scolecite is: Sr+2>Ba+2>Rb+>Ca+2>Cs+>K+>NH4+>Na+>Mg+2>Li+>Cd+2>Cu+2> Mn+2> Zn+2>Co+2>Ni+2.

Graphical Abstract: Growth of Methylococcus capsulatus (M) under different copper content in the growth medium has been studied. Excess of copper is sorbed in cytoplasm and on the cell surface. Growth of M. capsulatus (М) under copper-limited and copper-excess growth conditions is accompanied by increase of methanobactin secretion into the growth medium.

Graphical Abstract: Present work involves synthesis of NiO nanoparticles using Arabic gum by the sol-gel method. The synthesized NiO nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). It was shown that the synthesized NiO nanoparticles of cubic phase have a spherical shape and an average size of 34 nm.

Graphical Abstract:
This article is devoted to the study of the mechanism of action of pesticides as compounds with a high complexing capacity for metals, nucleotides and enzymes. The sum of these effects is the cause of almost all diseases of modern man, and including - cancer. It is very necessary to ban the use of pesticides to save our world, ecosystems and human and the population health improvement.
